Proposed remedial reading readiness program for emarginated kindergarten pupils at DMMMSU-SLUC ELS
(Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University - South La Union Campus, 2016-12) Laron, Rhyjema, B.
The goal of a reading program is to help children develop the skills and strategies they need for reading while nurturing their love for it. This study which used the descriptive and experimental method of research determined the effectiveness of the reading readiness intervention program on ten kindergarten pupils identified as slow readers at DMMMSU SLUC ELS. To determine the effectiveness of the program, summative tests, and pretest-posttest of the BRIGANCE Early Childhood Screen III were used. Frequency counts, percentile rating, and means were employed. T-test was used to compare the mean scores in the summative tests, and pretest-posttest. . This study showed that there was a significant difference between the performance of the learners in the experimental group and that of the control group when teaching strategies with appropriate strategic intervention materials embedded in the intervention program were used.
