Consumers' and vendor's perception on the implementation of La Union plastic code in the public market of the City of San Fernando, La Union
(Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University - North La Union Campus, 2025-04) Jubilo, Yvonne D.
The widespread use of single-use plastics (SUPs) presents major environmental challenges, especially in developing countries such as the Philippines. In response, the La Union Plastic Code Ordinance was introduced to help reduce plastic pollution. This study explores the views of both consumers and vendors at the San Fernando City public market concerning the ordinance's implementation. Employing a descriptive research design, data were gathered from 300 respondents through structured surveys and interviews. Findings reveal that while vendors exhibit high levels of awareness and perceived compliance with the ordinance, consumers demonstrate moderate awareness and implementation, hindered by practical challenges. These insights underscore the need for enhanced educational outreach and accessible alternatives to promote compliance.
