Publication An analysis on mutualism interaction with seasonal harvesting(Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University - South La Union Campus, 2023-05) Isla, Vanz Irene N.; Aldea, Jesarae L.; Boado, Jessica D.; Rabanal, Joyce V.This pure mathematics study dealt with the analysis of mutualism interaction with seasonal harvesting that investigates when will the two mutualists survive if seasonal harvesting is applied on the population of the first mutualist. The researchers modified the existing model of Ahmad (2017) by incorporating seasonal harvesting to the first mutualist. The harvesting term was adapted from the study of Chen et.al. (2013). These were then subject to stability analysis. Specifically, the study determined the existence and stability conditions of the equilibrium points. Furthermore, numerical simulation was done using OCTAVE software to verify and validate theoretical results. As a result, it was found out that there will be 110 possibility for the first mutualist to only persist through time since the two mutualists are not fully dependent on each other. Whereas, at a certain restrictions and conditions, there is a possibility that the two mutualists will persist through time even with the seasonal harvesting being applied (In the population of the first mutualist. This means that, if seasonal harvesting was done on the population of the first mutualist for the sake of the economy, the populations of the MO mutualists are still conserved. Also, seasonal harvesting on the population of the first mutualist does not affect the growth of the population of the first and second mutualists. Future researchers are encouraged to study mutualism interaction with three or more mutualist involve and incorporate simultaneous harvesting. It is also recommended to use other mathematical software other than OCTAVE to numerically simulate the results.
