The researchers observed that the Grade III pupils have difficulties in spelling which was validated through the results of the pre-test. Specifically, they aimed to answer the questions: (1) What is the ability of the respondents in the pre-test? ; (2) What is the level of spelling ability of the respondents in the post-test? ; (3) Is there a significant difference of the results of the respondents in the pre-test and post-test? ; and (4) Is there a significant relationship of the results of respondents in the pre-test and post-test? The researchers used pre-test and post-test in gathering data. Results showed that the respondents rated good after Direct Instruction strategy was used. Moreover, there is a significant difference between the scores of the pupils in the pre-test and post-test. Researchers found out the direct instruction strategy could enhance the spelling ability of the Grade III Pupils.
