Publication Yield performance of young corn (Zea mays) as affected by different organic fertilizers(Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University - South La Union Campus, 2002-03) Garcia, Rowena G.; Dolor, Jacqueline B.This study was designed to determine the yield performance of young corn (white and yellow var.) as affected by different organic fertilizers. The treatments used were T0- trichoderma based fertilizer (control), T I-caoili, T 2-sagana 100, and T r-diamond. The treatments were replicated four times; following the 2-factor experiment using the Randomized Complete Block design. There were four (4) blocks and each block was further subdivided into eight plots making a total of 32 plots The Analysis of Variance set at 0.05 and 0.0 1 level of significance was used to determine if there are significant differences among treatments. To find where lies the significance, the Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DMRT) was used. The findings showed that treatments including Trichoderma based fertilizer as control, did not significantly affect the yield performance of young com in terms of number of fruits, length of fruits, and weight of fruits. The different organic fertilizers have comparable effect on the yield performance of young com. The 2 com varieties did not have significant difference on the yield in terms of the number and length of fruits. However, in terms of weight, the yield performance of variety 2 (yellow com) is significantly better than variety 1(white com).
