(Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State Univeristy - Mid La Union Campus, 2018-05) Saranquin, Hadji M.; Floresca, Angela C.; Galleta, Ma. Theresa P.; Nepomuceno, Camille C.; Pulido, Marjorie D.
Violence knows no gender. Women, as vulnerable group, require greater attention in order to uplift their morale and stature in the society. This descriptive research endeavored to determine the awareness of 522 barangay officials on pertinent provisions of RA 9262 relative to steps in handling VAWC cases and Barangay Protection Order (BPO) and compliance of the 59 barangays as to their mandated functions. A validated questionnaire was the primary data gathering tool used with interviews and documentary reviews utilized to validate the data. Findings revealed that a great majority of the respondents are aware of the provisions of the law. Out of the eight (8) functions, only one (1) is 100% complied by the barangays which is on undertaking an educational program for the information dissemination of the law. Recommendations as input to their Barangay Development Plan with regards to Anti-VAWC were prepared to address the said findings.
