Publication Performance management practices of Security Agencies in the City of San Fernando, La Union(Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University – Mid La Union Campus, 2026-04) Arcilla, Patrick Ivan M.; Flores, Ma. Anabea C.; Guillermo, Glaesel Rae N.; Galate, Jeralyn L.; Nares, Lenie Rose P.; Calderon, Lady Mae B.; Gacayan, Daniel B.; Bayani, Kenth G.; Siong, Venus D.; Quinitip, Tiffany Ruth R.The study explored performance management practices implemented by security agencies across 12 selected agencies in a city setting. It aimed to identify specific strategies that enhance employee performance and organizational effectiveness, as well as challenges encountered, using a performance management framework. Performance management was examined across five key dimensions: performance planning, performing monitoring and feedback, employee appraisal systems, and reward and recognition mechanisms and performance development. A survey questionnaire was designed to gather data and insights from agency employees at a single point in time. Data was gathered from 275 employees using a validated face-to-face survey and analyzed through Microsoft Excel for median, frequency and percentage distribution. The study revealed that security agencies in the city implement performance management practices by setting clear performance goals, providing regular feedback, conducting training programs, and recognizing outstanding employee contributions. The study also identified challenges, including inconsistent appraisal practices and limited benchmarking, which are manageable and can be addressed through structured policies, continuous monitoring, and strategic planning.
