Assessing the translation quality of the Ilokano version of the quality policy statement, quality objectives, and core values of DMMMSU
(Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University - North La Union Campus, 2024-05) Faustino, Arianne Joy G.; Sabado, Shiela Mae B.
This qualitative study was driven to assess the translation quality of the Ilokano version of the quality policy statement, quality objectives, and core values of DMMMSU initiated by the previous researchers, Ms. Angela V. Awas and Ms. Samantha B. Ronquillo. This study answered the research question: Are the words used in the translations familiar and understandable to the target readers? What specific discrepancies or errors in the translations that might affect its accuracy? Are the Ilokano translations for the Quality Policy Statement, Quality Objectives, and Core Values considered acceptable? Focus Group Discussion (FGD) for the students and teachers of DMMMSU and individual interviews with the expertswere used to gather data. The answers were recorded, transcribed, translated, and thematically analyzed. In the analysis of data, readability, accuracy, and acceptability of the translations emerged as major themes.
