Performance of growing native Chicken fed with varying levels of crude protein
(Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University-North La Union Campus, 2017-03) Estilong, Rusiel S.
Crude protein, which is a high-priced nutrient, plays an important role in the growth and development of any living organism. Hence, the study was conducted to determine the performance of growing native chicken fed with varying levels (16%, 18%, 20%, and 21%) of crude protein at Urayong, Caba, La Union from January 17, 2017 to April 17, 2017. Sixty, fourteen day-old native chicks were used in the study employing the RCBD in three blocks. The birds were distributed in four treatments. Results of the study revealed insignificant differences on the feed consumption of the experimental birds fed with home-mixed ration containing 16, 18, 20% CP and the commercial ration. However significant difference was noted in the final weight, gain in weight, feed conversion ratio and cost of feed to produce a kilogram gain in weight.
