Publication Types of home discipline and level of conformity on school norms of the CS students of DMMMSU-SLUC, Agoo, La Union(Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University - South La Union Campus, 2002-10) Eslava, Joy N.; Estorco, Jane M.This study entitled TYPES OF HOME DISCIPLINE AND LEVEL OF CONFORMI1Y ON School ..'NORMS OF THE CS STUDENTS OF D:MMMSUSLUC .AGOO, LA UNION" has been prepared by Joy. N. Eslava, and Jane M. Estorco. The study aimed to find out the types of home discipline and level of conformity on school norms of the college of sciences students and to find if relationships between these 2 variables exist. The data were collected from the respondents using a validated questionnaire on conformity and on home discipline. The respondents of the study were the 727 college of sciences students of DMMMSU-Agoo. Frequency counts, percentage, weighted means with corresponding descriptive equivalence very high 1.0-1.7, high 1.8- 2.S, moderate 2.6-3.3, low 3.4-4.7 and very low 4.2-S.0, were used to analyze the students' level of conformity. Using the scale 3 (always) was the basis on determining 1he students' type of home discipline, where the greater number of 3 (always) along the items on the three types of home discipline had appeared; this determines 1heir types of home discipline. The Pearson product Moment Correlation Analysis through the Micro Stat Software was used to determine the relationship between the 2 variables involved, the types of home discipline and the level of conformity of the respondents. Based on the findings, 56.26% of the respondents have a democratic type of home discipline, 21.18% of the respondents have an autocratic type of home discipline, 17.74% of the respondents have permissive type of home discipline and lastly the eclectic type of home discipline with 4.81% of the respondents. Their level of conformity is very high because the grand mean which is 1.26 lies between 1.0-1.7.The BS Biology Students have the highest level of conformity compared with BS Psychology and BS Mathematics Students .It was found out that there were 7 most violated nonns as stated on the student code of discipline. These are the non-wearing of ID"s, the non-wearing of uniforms, littering and scattering of trash, violati~n of: legally· posted ~signs, insultingI uttering derogatory remarks or flagrant indecency in language, act of lasciviousness and cheating during examinations. Using the critical two-tailed value +/- .07273 at alpha .05, it was found out that there is no relationship between the type of home discipline and the level of conformity with correlation coefficient of .03527.
