Performance of Broilers fed with banana (Musa balbasiana) peel meal as feed extender

The high cost of commercial feeds prompted poultry raisers to look for alternative sources of feed such as banana peel meal. Hence, this study was conducted to determine the performance of broilers fed with varying levels of banana peel meal (5 %, 10 %, and 15 %) from November 15, 2015 to December 20, 2015 in DMMMSU-NLUC, Bacnotan La Union. A total of 60, fourteen day old broiler chicks were randomly distributed into four treatments with three blocks following the Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD). The results of the study showed that the performance of birds fed with banana peel meal were comparable to those fed with pure broiler starter crumble in terms of final weight, gain in weight, feed consumption, feed conversion ratio and profit above feed, medicine and stock cost.
