    Evaluation of Tuna payao fishing in selected Barangay of La Union
    (Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University - North La Union Campus, 2006-03) Domingo, Charies Ivy J.
    This study conducted in selected Barangay Bacnotan and Luna La Union seeks to determine (1) demographic profile, (2) fishing and marketing practices of payao fishing. (3) the Profitability and (4) Problems Encountered by Payao fisherman in the locality. There were 50 respondents interviewed. The data were gathered through personal interview using a questionnaire. Results indicated an – all male fishermen respondents and likely to be within their most productive years in fishing venture-their primary source of income. Fishing activities vary in time. Most of the respondents prefer fishing in the morning. All of them own a boat and adopt a fisherman-retailer-consumer scheme of their catch. Many problems are encountered by the payao fisherman. Occurrence of unfavorable condition is the major problem. Low selling price, on the other hand is the problem encountered in marketing their products.
