(Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State Univeristy - Mid La Union Campus, 2015-10) Tadeo, Queenie O.; Aliman, Pamela C.; Delim, Sheerleen L.; Libres, Ma. Stephanie Mae M.; Gacayan, Daniel B.
Boarding houses play an integral role in the provision of low cost, affordable housing, particularly for people who have limited options in securing temporary housing. This study was conducted to determine the compliance of boarding houses to City Ordinance No. 005 Series of 2008 in the City of San Fernando, La Union. This study involved 405 boarding house operators and boarders. The researchers used survey questionnaire for data collection and frequency counts, percentages, and weighted mean for data analysis. The findings revealed that boarding houses complied with the provision of the City Ordinance in terms of required permits and licenses, facilities, water supply, sanitation, ventilation, illumination, spacing, safety precautions, and practice of policies and activities. However, operators were not able to comply the following provisions: parking space, telephone, air conditioner, internet/Wi-Fi connection, fire exit, use of logbook, and non-admittance or ejection of grave offense.
