Varying levels of ascorbic acid on the performance of broilers (Cobb strain)
(Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University- North La Union Campus, 2006-03) Del Rosario, Beebe C.
The use of ascorbic acid in animal production is gaining popularity. It is an essential component of a well-balanced diet and their major function is the metabolism and utilization of nutrients. This study was conducted to determine the effect of ascorbic acid on the performance of 60-day-old broilers from December 28, 2005 to February 1, 2006 at the poultry project of Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University, North La Union Campus, Bacnotan, La Union. The results revealed that ascorbic acid supplementation did not cause any significant variation in terms of final weight, gain in weight, feed consumption, feed conversion efficiency, cost of feeds to produce kilogram gain and profit above feed, medicine and stock cost when compared to the broilers in the control diet.
