    Influence of vermi-lactic acid bacteria serum tea on the growth and yield of honey corn intercropped with mungbean

    Organic farming is an environment friendly approach to food security and food safety. Vermitea and Lactic Acid Bacteria Serum tea (LABS), which has been reported as excellent nutrient source for crops, is another approach to food security. A study on vermitea and (LABS) tea as organic fertilizer supplement for honey corn intercropped with mungbean was conducted to determine the growth and yield of honey corn intercropped with mungbean as influenced by application of Vermi and Lactic acid bacteria serum tea and to find out the economics of producing a hectare of honey corn intercropped with mungbean employing the (RCBD) in four blocks. The study was conducted at the experimental farm of DMMMSU-NLUC, Bacnotan, La Union from November16, 2012 to February 6, 2013. Intercropping honey corn with mungbean as influenced by the different amounts of vermicast and Lactic Acid Bacteria Serum Tea did not affect the growth and yield of both honey corn and mungbean, with return on total investment of 82.02 and benefit cost.
