    Status of the solid waste management program of the Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University - North La Union Campus, Bacnotan, La Union

    The study aimed to determine the status of the implementation of the solid waste management program in the Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University – North La Union Campus. Three hundred sixty six faculty, staff, administration and students were selected as respondents of the study. Descriptive research utilizing the survey method was employed through the aid of prepared questionnaires supported by personal interviews and observations to gather data. Frequency counts, percentage, weighted means, average weighted means, T-test and correlation were used as statistical tools in the study. Findings revealed that most of the respondents were female, belonged to age of 16-20 years old, single and were mostly students. Most of them have stayed in the area for 0-5 years. Results revealed that the respondents were much aware on solid waste management program of the campus; the level of implementation of the solid waste management program were perceived to be mostly implemented; the respondents often participated in solid waste management activities; and the degree of seriousness of the problems associated with the implementation of the program were moderately serious. There was a significant difference on the awareness of the respondents on the implementation of the solid waste management program however, there was no significant differences on the level of implementation of the program as well as the participation of the respondents on the solid waste management activities. Respondents’ awareness and implementation has a strong positive relationship.
