Classroom management competencies of sped teachers in the division of La Union

Special Education teachers play a numerous significant roles in the classroom and one of which is managerial role. As manager, the teacher is responsible for the effective management in the classroom. As such, an orderly classroom management is expected from a competent and good teacher-manager. This study was conducted to assess the classroom management skills and competencies of SPED teachers in the Division of La Union. With the use of the questionnaire, the study gathered data from seventeen (17) SPED teachers in the four (4) school districts included in the locale of the study. The data gathered were processed and analyzed using frequency counts, percentages, weighted mean, the Pearson Product Moment of Correlation and Chi-Square. Among the variables that may affect instructional competence of the SPED teachers, it was the age and salary received that had the greatest impact on the result of the study. The proposed training program for the SPED teachers in the Division of La Union is vital in improving the performance level of teachers through the utilization of teaching and intervention strategies.
