    Medical office staff competencies of private hospitals in the province of La Union

    Competency is the set of behaviors, abilities, and knowledge needed to carry out tasks efficiently and meet predetermined goals. The competencies of the medical office staff in private hospitals in the Province of La Union were as curtained by this study. The objective was to determine the profile, the level of competence, and the correlation between the two. The profile was determined using frequency counts and percentages, the level of competence was measure during median interpretation, and the relationship between the respondents' profile and the level of competence was examined using Pearson Chi-square. Many are aged 21-30, most of them are female and single, all of them are college graduates, a great majority were 1-10 years of service, and many of them are nurses and are working in the nursing unit. The respondents are competent in terms of Communication, Organizational, Computer, Intrapersonal, and Records Management Skills. Their job position and hospital department have a significant relationship to their level of competence.
