Competency is a combination of knowledge, skills, and behaviors needed to perform tasks effectively to accomplish specific objectives. This study determined the competencies of the medical office staff at Ilocos Training and Regional Medical Center. It sought to identify the profile, level of competence, and relationship between the profile and the level of competence of the respondents. Frequency counts and percentages were utilized to determine the profile, mode interpretation to measure the level of competence, and Pearson Chi-Square Test for the relationship between the respondents’ profile and the level of competence. Almost half are aged 21-30 and are data encoders in the billings and claims department, both males and females are almost half, a great majority are single, have 1-10 years in service, and almost all are college graduates. The respondents are competent in terms of communication, organizational, computer, intrapersonal, and record management skills and their civil status, job position, and hospital department affect the level of competence.
