Acceptability of shredded plastics as additives for concrete hollow blocks
(Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University - North La Union Campus, 2016-03) Corbillon, Jayvee O.
This study was conducted to determine the acceptability of shredded plastics as additives for concrete hollow blocks. It specifically aimed to determine the physical characteristics of the concrete hollow blocks in terms of compressive strength; durability; and acceptability of concrete hollow blocks in terms of texture, durability, and appearance. The study used the experimental research following the Complete Randomized Design. Descriptive research design was also used through the use of questionnaires to determine the acceptability of the treatments in terms of physical characteristics. There were 10 respondents in the study. Drop test was done to determine the durability of the treatments. Frequency counts, means, and Analysis of Variance were used in analyzing data. As revealed by the results, the highest compressive strength was noted in T2 (2.13MPa) for seven day curing period and in T3 (2.65MPa) after twenty six days. Using the drop test method, T3 showed the highest durability. On the other hand, T2 was noted to have the highest level of acceptability. Analysis of Variance revealed that there is no significant difference on the acceptability of treatments of concrete hollow blocks in terms of texture and appearance, but with significant difference in terms of durability.
