Effectiveness of weighted sled training in the improvement of maximum speed of the male varsity players from a three - point position
(Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University - South La Union Campus, 2016-03) Claveria, Grace M.
The ultimate goal of any athlete or coach is improved performance in all sports. In athletics, weighted sled training has become a popular resistance training method among coaches in improving running speed of athletes even though relatively little is known about the effects that such technique has on the development of overall speed. The study determined the mean performance of the experimental group prior and after the introduction of the seven - week weighted sled training. The study made use of the single-group pretest - post test experimental design. The study found out that the experimental group obtained a below average to average performance in the pretest and post-test along the three measures of speed. Lastly, the mean gain scores of the group from pretest to post-test in the 60 - meter speed test proved to be significant at 0.05 level of significance and the predicted time in 100 and 200 meters at 0.01 level of significance.
