Influence of vermicompost and seaweeds tea (Sargassum) on the growth and yield of sweet corn (Var. Sweet pearl) intercropped with cowpea
(Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University - North La Union Campus, 2014-03) Cayat, Lea B.
The ever increasing cost of synthetic fertilizers is causing havoc not only to the environment but also to the purchasing power of farmers creating the dire need to explore substitutes which are abundant and locally available. Hence this study on the performance of corn intercropped with cowpea as influenced by vermicompost and seaweeds tea was conducted from November 3, 2013 to January 28, 2014 at the Experimental Farm of the DMMMSU-NLUC, Sapilang, Bacnotan, La Union. Results of the study revealed that application of four tons Vermicompost and four liters of Seaweeds tea per linear meter for corn and cowpea significantly influenced the performance and yield of both crops when compared to plants applied with synthetic fertilizer
