    Buy-back of plastic wastes in junkshops in the municipality of Balaoan, La Union

    This study was conducted to assess the buy-back of plastic wastes in the junkshops in the municipality of Balaoan, La Union. There were six (6) active junkshops in the municipality; hence, total enumeration was employed in the study, which includes its respective owners. Descriptive survey method of research was used through the aid of questionnaire and supported by interview and observation. Frequency counts, percentages, weighted means and grand means were used in the analysis of data. The research shows the role of junkshops in solid waste management in Balaoan, La Union. The junkshops are confined in an average of 350 square meters area collecting mostly High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE). The total wastes collected per month averaged to about 1,916.67 kg. Problems associated in the operation were noted to be moderately serious. Key words: buy-back, junkshops, plastic, waste management
