    Impact of watching foreign movies on language learning

    Vocabulary, Reading, Speaking, Writing, and Motivation are important skills to be enhanced, developed, and improved for effective learning as well as communication. Hence, this study was conducted to find out the BA English Language students’ impact of watching foreign movies on language learning. A qualitative phenomenology was utilized. Thematic analysis was used in analyzing the data gathered through focus group discussion. Specifically, this study sought to answer the following research question: (1) What are the impacts of watching foreign movies, in terms of: (a) Vocabulary; (b) Speaking; (c) Reading; and (d) Writing; (2) What influence do subtitles in foreign movies have on language learning?; and (3)How does learners’ motivation change when watching foreign films? The answers were recorded, transcribed, and analyzed. The findings indicated that watching foreign movies helped in learning language.
