Sea salt production in district 1 province of La Union
(Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University- North La Union Campus, 2024-05) Cariaga, Hazel Cay V.
The study determines the respondents' information, production practices, marketing practices, and problems and challenges encountered by the sea salt producers in District 1, Province of La Union. Data from 21 respondents were collected and analyzed using frequency counts, percentages, and modes. The result of the study revealed that most respondents are small-scale producers, primarily female, married, and high school graduates, who have been producing salt for 1-5 years. Most use HDPE methods and harvest weekly, producing fine and coarse salt. The findings revealed that most producers in District 1, Province of La Union, operate without capital, supported and funded by government agencies such as DTI, LGUs, BFAR, and DMMMSU FRTI. The proposed training design includes interactive workshops, hands-on demonstrations, and information sessions tailored to address the specific needs and challenges identified among sea salt producers.
