Publication Survey on Chicharon waste frying oil as potential Biodiesel in Ilocos Region(Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University - North La Union Campus, 2015-03) Cariaga, Cherish Anne M.Waste vegetable oil is a problematic waste stream which requires to be properly managed. This study could eventually provide relevant information on chichacorn production and its waste frying oil in making biodiesel as potential biodiesel. Survey questionnaire and personal interview were conducted into fifteen (15) respondents in the province of Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur and La Union. Most percentage (33.33%) of the chichacorn respondents belong at the age bracket of 61 and above, 66.67 percent were married, 46.67 percent have a college degree and can speak Ilocano and Tagalog. The estimated volume of waste frying oil obtained by the fifteen processors for a period of one month were 76.42 liter. Most percentage (46.67%) were disposing their waste oil through burning and source as fuel in cookstove. Some of the problems encountered were drying of corn and the process of deskinning. There are some government and non-government agencies who render their service for the better production of chichacorn.
