Publication Kinds of animal manures on the growth and yield of the newly stablished dragon fruit cacti plantation(Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University - North La Union Campus, 2013-03) Cardinez, Ariel T.The increasing cost of commercial fertilizers for crop production triggers many researchers to continue to evaluate available animal manures as organic fertilizers. The use of organic fertilizer has a lot of advantages and is well documented. Further, the use of animal manures as fertilizer for dragon fruit cacti has little information. Hence, this study was conducted to determine the effects of kinds of manures (R0-control, R1-cattle manure, R2-chicken dung, R3-sheep manure) on the growth and yield of a newly established dragon fruit cacti plantation employing the RCBD in three blocks. The study was conducted from June 2, 2011 to November 30, 2012 at the experimental farm of the DMMMSU-NLUC, Bacnotan, La Union. Based on the findings, dragon fruit cactus plants applied with chicken manure and sheep manures significantly produced more number of developed fruits (7.66), but comparable to control plants which produced the heaviest marketable fruits (1041.66 gm).
