Publication Serbisyo publiko:(Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University - Mid La Union Campus, 2024-12) Ramos, Maria Rhyssa O.; Callanta, Wilgen Fides M.; Navarrete, Jasper Dave D.; Pineda, Isaiah Jude G.; Zambrona, Danielle Daryl V.; Albay, Arvella M.Public service is a cornerstone of community development and governance (Kusnandar, 2019). Using a correlational quantitative research design, this study explored the prosocial behaviors, self-efficacy, and job motivation of barangay officials in the City of San Fernando, La Union. A total of 130 barangay officials from 17 low-income barangays were selected through purposive sampling. Analysis of the Median revealed moderate levels of prosocial behaviors, self-efficacy, and job motivation. The Mann-Whitney U and Kruskal-Wallis H tests indicated no significant differences in these variables based on position or length of service, though educational attainment significantly influenced job motivation. Spearman’s rho correlation analysis demonstrated strong positive relationships among prosocial behaviors, self-efficacy, and job motivation. These results emphasized the importance of fostering these attributes to enhance leadership effectiveness and improve public service delivery, particularly in barangay governance.
