    Intelligence and personality traits of the freshmen students of the college of sciences DMMMSU-SLUC, Agoo, La Union

    The title of this study is "INTELLIGENCE AND PERSONALITY TRAITS OF THE FRESHMEN STUDENTS OF THE COLLEGE OF SCIENCES DMMMSU-SLUC, AGOO, LA UNION." 1t aimed to determine the relationship between the profile and the I.Q. of the freshmen students and the relationship between the profile and the personality traits of the freshmen students of the College of Sciences of DMMMSU-SLUC, Agoo, La Union. S. Y. 2002-2003. IT sought answers to the following questions: 1. What is the profile of the respondents as to: a. age b. number of siblings c. birth order d. socio-economic status 2.) What is the I.Q. of the freshmen students of the College of Sciences of DMMMSU-SLUC Agoo, La Union, S. Y. 2002-2003, as measured by the Otis-Lennon Mental Ability Test (OLMAT)? 3. What is the personality traits of the freshmen students of the College of Sciences of DMMMSU-SLUC, Agoo, La Union, S.Y. 2002-2003 as measured by 16 personality factor? 4. Is there a significant relationship between the profile and I.Q. of the freshmen students of the College of Sciences of DMMMSU-SLUC S.Y. Agoo, La Union, 2002-2003? 5. Is there a significant relationship between the profile and personality traits of the freshmen students of the College of Science of DMMMSU-SLUC, Agoo, La Union, S.Y 2002-2003? The respondents were 139 College of Sciences in DMMMSU-SLUC, Agoo, La Union. These respondents were taken through systematic random sampling technique. The instruments used in this study are the questionnaire as to their age, number of siblings, birth) order and socio-economic status and the 16 personality factor. The 16 personality factor is a standardized test. The researchers formulated the questionnaire, which included the profile, the College Admission Test (CAT) Result. The Mental Ability (IQ) was measured by the Otis-Lennon Mental Ability test (OLMAT). The 16 Personality Factor Norm Form A was used to measure the respondents personality characteristics. The statistical tools used were frequency count, average weighted mean, percentage distribution, and Pearson - Product Moment Correlation Coefficient. The results, which the researchers gathered from the data, are the following: 1. a. The respondents belong to age bracket of16-18 years old. b. The respondents belong to 1- 4 number of siblings. c. The respondents were middle born children. d. The respondents have average income. 2. Using the College Admission Test (CAT) Result, it was found-out that out of the respondents have average IQ., 3. The personality characteristics of the respondents was Factor B, which is reasoning and has average weighted sten score of 4.42. Factor C, emotional stability and there average weighted sten score is 4.47. Factor Eis describe as dominance has average weighted sten score of 6.51. Factor 0 that is liveliness has average weighted sten score of 3.64 and Factor 0, which described as apprehensive, has average weighted sten score of 6.78. 4. The profile and the I.Q. of the respondents has no relationship. 5. The personality Factor L and age has a relationship, number of siblings IS related with Factor G, H, N has a relationship.
