Publication Performance of broilers fed with varying levels of jackfruit (Artocarpus heterophyllus lam.) meal(Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University - North La Union Campus, 2011-03) Buen, Jerome B.Due to costly feeds brought about by imported raw materials, poultry raisers have to look for locally available alternative sources of feedstuffs. Hence, this study was conducted to determine the effects of jackfruit meal on the performance of broilers and to determine the best level of jackfruit meal (15%, 20% and 25%) that will give the highest profit. This was conducted from November 27 to December 31, 2010 at Casiaman, Bacnotan, La Union. Sixty (14-day old) chicks were used in the study employing the Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) in three blocks. Gain in weight and feed conversion ratio were significantly influenced by the different levels of jackfruit meal. However, insignificant differences in terms of final weight, feed consumption, cost of feed to produce a kilogram gain and profit above feed, medicine and stock cost.
