Design, construction, and test performance of Multi-forage Chopper
(Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University - North La Union Campus, 2013-03) Budeng, Arman A.
The study aimed to Design, Construct and Test the Performance of Multi-Forage Chopper machine. The design of this multi-forage chopper machine was prepared from December 2012 to January, 2013. This device was constructed at Alilem, Ilocos Sur and tested at the Farm Shop of the Agricultural Engineering Department, College of Agricultural Sciences, Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University, Bacnotan, La Union, from December 2012 to January 2013. It consisted of three main parts namely: the hopper, blade, and the power transmission. The multi-forage chopper machine has an initial cost of Php 3314.00 excluding the motor. Result showed that the highest average chopping efficiency is the gabi with 80% with pulley diameter of 15.24 cm and a speed of 1042 rpm. Within the same performance condition the chopper also displayed the highest average output capacity of 1667.7g/min. Analysis of variance showed that the length of cut was not significant. Furthermore, the analysis of variance of the output capacity was not significant.
