Publication Gmelina (Gmelina aeborea roxb.) leaf decoction to control internal parasites of Sheep(Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University-North La Union Campus, 2017-03) Brillantes, Lucky Star Carmen N.The increasing price of anthelmintics and the availability of indigenous plants that can be tapped as dewormer prompted the researcher to conduct a study on the use of Gmelina leaf decoction in controlling internal parasites in sheep. The study aimed to identify the different species of gastrointestinal parasites present in sheep, determine the species of internal parasites that can be treated with varying dosages of Gmelina leaf decoction, the anthelmintic efficacy of Gmelina leaf decoction against gastrointestinal parasites and which among the treatments is effective as anthelmintic for sheep. A total of 24 range type sheep regardless of sex and age were distributed into four treatments and replicated three times with the use of Completely Randomize Design (CRD). Two heads of sheep were used in each replicate. The results of the study revealed that the parasitic load (epg) of sheep treated with Gmelina leaf decoction at 15 ml/kg body weight was comparable to the commercial dewormer at days 7, 14 and 28 post-treatment but significantly different to the other dosages. The percentage efficacy of Gmelina that was administered to the sheep at 15 ml/kg body weight was comparable to the commercial dewormer but significantly different to the other dosages of Gmelina Leaf decoction.
