Performance of different Peanut lines under DMMMSU conditions
(Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University - North La Union Campus, 2015-03) Bersalona, Winnie Ruth D.
Peanut variety that are high yielding and good quality, good characteristics, maturity and resistance to disease, drought and extreme temperatures are the primary considerations. The performance of the five (5) peanut lines (V1- LG Pn 11-C, V2- LG Pn 56, V3- LG Pn 06-3-1, V4- Pn 06-4-3, and V5- NSIC Pn 14) was evaluated to select a promising of peanut with high pod yielding ability and acceptable agronomic characteristic employing the Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with 4 blocks at the Agricultural Technology Farm Center of the Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University, North La Union Campus, Bacnotan, La Union from November 21, 2014 to February 21, 2015. LG Pn 06-4-3 significantly produced the heaviest dried pod yield of 1895.75 kg/ha comparable to LG Pn 56 (1584.31kgha), LG Pn 06-3-1 (16045.85kg/ha). LG Pn 06- 3- 1 flowered at 29.00 DAE and matured at 92.50 DAE. There were no significant variations noted on plant height (46.34 cm to 50.55 cm), survival rate (77.50 % to 95.56%), number of pods per plant (10.70 to 15.65), number of seeds per pod (1.50 to 2.00), shelling percentage (62.25% to 75.50%), weight of 100 seeds (51.98 to 71.48) and weight of fresh pods (2083.53 g/plot or 1000.10 kg/ha to 2273.91g/plot or 1091.48 kg/ha). Furthermore, the peanut lines have a “slight” pod beak, moderate to deep pod constriction and distinct pod reticulation, pinkish seed color, small to medium seeds size, and oblong shapes with good quality seed.
