Challenges and coping strategies of the probationers and parolees during their re-entry in the society
(Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University - South La Union Campus, 2025-05) Bautista, Juliet C.
This study aims to determine probationers' and parolees’ challenges and coping strategies during their re-entry in the society at Urdaneta City Parole and Probation Office. Using a descriptive correlational research design, data were gathered from 303 probationers and parolees selected through cluster sampling and simple random technique. Crafted survey questionnaires were utilized to collect data on respondents’ profiles, challenges encountered, and coping strategies used. Data analysis involved frequency counts, average weighted median, and Correlation Analysis using SPSS 21. Results indicate that most respondents exhibit frequently experienced challenges and rarely used coping strategies. Cramer’s V analysis indicates that civil status (specifically to physical challenges), the highest level of education (specifically to intrapersonal and physical challenges), and average monthly income (specifically to spiritual challenges) are significantly correlated at (p < 0.05). These findings contribute 10 a deeper understanding of the factors associated with the challenges probationers and parolees encounter during their re-entry into society and emphasize the importance of incorporating them into developing effective reintegration programs.
