    Effectiveness of the plastic ban ordinance in the public market and selected business establishments in Naguilian, La Union

    This study aimed to validate the effectiveness of the plastic ban ordinance in thepublic market of Naguilian, La Union. There were 210 respondents which included 100 vendors (wholesalers, bakeries, groceries, farm supplies, carinderia, ambulant vendors, et al.), and 10 municipal employees which includes the market supervisor and members of the local police as internal respondents and 100 consumers as external respondents. Descriptive survey method of research was used through the aid of questionnaire and supported by interview and observation. Frequency counts, percentages, weighted mean and grand mean were used in the analysis of data. T-test was used to determine the differences on the responses of the respondents and to assess the effectiveness of the plastic ban at the public market of Naguilian, La Union. The research shows that the plastic ban in the public market was effective in its implementation. Customers, vendors and other business owners are complying with the ordinance resulting in the reduction of solid waste being collected at the public market. Key words: effectiveness, plastic ban
