Publication Organic waste shredder and pelletizer(Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University – Mid La Union Campus, 2022-06) Barba, Olive B.; Balangue, Wilbert L.; Cabanes, Wendell P.; Dacanay, Jamil Marcos A.; Loyola, Jericho B.Organic wastes from residential areas are the greatest contributor to waste generation in the country. In order to address and seek an effective solution, Organic Waste Shredder and Pelletizer (OWSP) was created which has the ability to transform organic waste materials into useful organic fertilizer and feeds. This paper studied the design and assembly of an organic waste shredder and pelletizer following the Project Developmental research design. The OWSP underwent 10 trials for each material used in. the study which are banana peel, cabbage, and water spinach to attain reliable data to be evaluated. The shredder throughput capacity of the machine is 0.738 kg/min while its pelletizer throughput capacity is 0.136 kg/min. The machine has a shredder efficiency of 82.47%and its pelletizer efficiency is 90.47%. The Return on Investment of the OWSP, on the other hand, is 72.82% that is said to-be economically viable.Publication Portable organic waste shredder and pelletizer(Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University - Mid La Union Campus, 2024-05) Diaz, Iverson V.; Decena, Mark D.; Joven, Juan Miguel M.; Lopico, Ronnel Dominic D.; Olazo, John Joshua G.; Barba, Olive B.; Tattao, Luis A.; Aquino, Eric C.; Meana, Melchor A.Organic Wastes from residential areas are the greatest contributor to waste generation in the country. To address and seek an effective solution, a Portable Organic Waste Shredder and Pelletizer (POWSAP) was created which can transform organic waste materials into useful organic fertilizer and feeds. In this machine, there is an idler feature that enables the shredder and pelletizer to operate as a stand-alone unit. This paper examines the design and construction of the organic waste shredder and pelletizer using a Project Developmental Research approach. To gather reliable data for evaluation, the POWSAP underwent 10 trials for each material studied, which included cabbage and com cob. Wizen both machines are operating, the shredder throughput capacity of the machine is 23.82 g/sec, while its pelletizer throughput capacity is 32.66g/sec. The machine has a shredder efficiency of 83.67% and a pelletizer efficiency of 93.16%. When operating as a stand-alone unit, the shredder throughput capacity of the machine is 24g'sec, while its pelletizer throughput capacity is 33.76g/sec. The machine has a shredder efficiency of 84.63% and a pelletizer efficiency of 93.93%.
