    Performance of Guinea grass (Panicum maximum jacq.) applied with different organic fertilizer

    Low soil fertility generally causes reduction in forage yield and the application of organic fertilizers like manures helps improve soil fertility and performance of crops. Hence, this study was conducted to determine the performance of guinea grass applied with different organic fertilizers and to determine the best animal manure that could substitute chemical fertilizer. This study was conducted at Barangay Sta. Rita, Bacnotan, La Union from February 26, 2021 to May 26, 2021 following RCBD in three blocks. The treatment were as follows; T0- control (BSR), T1- Chicken Manure, T2- Goat manure and T3- Cattle Manure. Results revealed that the different organic manure used improved the performance of guinea grass and they could be used as substitute to inorganic fertilizers that resulted to comparable plant height, number of tillers, and herbage yield of guinea grass.
