Fermented plant juice (Moringa oleifera and Ipomoea batatas) for broiler
(Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University - North La Union Campus, 2015-03) Aradanas, Ylen Jhel B.
Antibiotics have been used in poultry production as therapeutic agents to treat bacterial infections that decrease performance and leave residues to the body of a bird and that can cause diseases to the consumer. The use of organic supplements such as fermented plant juice that serves as probiotics can be used as an alternate to antibiotics. This study was carried out to determine the effectiveness of fermented plant juice (Moringa oleifera and Ipomoea batatas) for broilers. It was conducted at DMMMSU, Bacnotan, La Union from November 12, 2014 to December 18, 2014. A total of 60, 14-day old chicks were randomly distributed into four treatments, following the Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with three blocks. The result of the study revealed insignificant differences in terms of final weight, gain in weight, feed consumption, feed conversion ratio, cost of feed to produce a kilogram gain in weight and profit above feed, medicine and stock cost of birds supplemented with fermented malunggay and camote leaves.
