Publication Brown seaweeds (Sargassum filipendula C. Agardh) as feed extender for Broilers(Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University - North La Union Campus, 2016-03) Albay, Nazareth A.In poultry livestock production, feed is a common problem. Broiler is one of the most popular phases of poultry in the Philippines, it is the quickest and most efficient in converting offered into a quantity of potential food in the form of meat. This study was carried out to determine the use of brown seaweeds (Sargassum filipendula C. Agardh) as feed extender for broilers. Levels of brown seaweeds at the rate of 5%, 10%, and 15% were incorporated as feed extender into the basal diet for 21 days. It was conducted from November 15, 2015 to December 20, 2015 at Darigayos, Luna, La Union. A total of 60 broiler chicks were used in this study and distributed randomly into four treatments with three replications. Results of the study showed insignificant differences in terms of final weight, gain in weight, feed consumption, feed conversion and profit above feed, medicine, and stock cost of birds fed with experimental treatments and control diet.
