Publication I got the Power:(Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University – Mid La Union Campus, 2024-01) Aguyo, Aloeravan A.; Florida, Gracille May N.; Osias, Rose-Ann R.; Tubera, Haya Lae L.; Rodriguez, Dulce M.; Allawey, Fritz Krieg; Siong, Venus D.; Merza, Hartwell Norman M.The study embarks on a journey to unveil the strength and potential of the 11 female barangay captains in Bacnotan, La Union. This mixed method approach seeks to determine the demographic profile, level of performance, and challenges of the 11 female barangay captains through a survey questionnaire and semi-structured interview. The findings revealed that most female barangay captains were in the 45-50 and 50-55 age brackets, married, attained a college education, and had a minimum of 1-5 years of political experience. It also revealed that the female barangay captains are outstanding in performing the executive, legislative, and judicial functions. It also found that the challenges of the female barangay captains are profile discrimination and difficulties, administrative adversities, poor satisfaction and public criticisms, and predicaments on fellow barangay officials. The study recommends a proposed enhancement capability program for female Barangay captains in Bacnotan, La Union.
