Bulbils are biologically 'younger’, which has a potential as an alternative planting material in garlic production. Bulbil is cost-effective and free of soil-borne diseases like nematode infection and other diseases like a mosaic virus. Mathew et al. (2005) found that garlic propagation using aerial bulbils will result in a 45 times higher rate than normal cloves. Hence, this study was conducted to determine the bulbil production of the selected Philippine garlic varieties such as Ilocos White, Ilocos Pink, Mexican, Mindoro, Romblon, Tan Bolters, Miracle, and Batanes Red. The field experiment was laid out following Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) in three blocks, subdivided into eight plots. RCBD ANOVA was used to test the level of the significance while Tukey’s HSD was used for the comparison of means. Results showed that all selected Philippine garlic varieties tested were comparable in terms of number of leaves and plant height at 60 and 90 DAP, survival rate (%), dry bulb weight per plant (g) and per plot (kg) and bulb diameter (cm). Batanes Red has the heaviest fresh bulb weight per plant (g) and per plot (kg), most bulbil per plot and plants with bulbil per plot and heaviest bulbil per plot (kg). Batanes Red variety had the highest net income and ROI (%) of 305,986 pesos and 32.94%.
