Publication Indoor hydroponic system for basil (Ocimum basilicum) production using different colors of light emitting diode (LED) grow lights(Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University- North La Union Campus, 2024-05) Abuan, Chazhey Billie I.; Orine, Chris Jan F.Food production is constrained by available land, water, and other natural resources. Small farmers can grow food utilizing these minimal resources with hydroponics and vertical gardening. The study aimed to determine the effect of different colors of growing lights on a bed-type indoor hydroponic system on the growth and yield of basil in terms of the height, number of leaves, and weight of the harvested basil plant. The research used a Completely Randomized Design with three treatments and three replications. Results showed that there is a significant difference in the growth and yield of basil plants where the highest number of leaves (65.63), the highest weight of biomass per plant (20.03g), and the highest length of the plant (34.07cm) showing that T1(White LED Light) is the most ideal color of LED grow light to be used. Moreover, the benefit-cost ratio computed for T1 was 0.02, T2 was 0.09, and T3 was 0.038 which all deliver a negative gross value.
