Growth and yield of Ampalaya (Momordica charantia linn). varieties intercropped with Rambutan
(Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University - North La Union Campus, 2014-03) Abat, Jennifer D.
This study was conducted to determine the growth, yield and net income of the four ampalaya varieties intercropped with rambutan. This was conducted from June 25 to October 14, 2013 at the Agroforestry Research and Demonstration Farm (ARDF), Rambutan Plantation, DMMMSU-NLUC, Bacnotan, La Union. Randomized Complete Block Design with four blocks was used. The treatments used were as follows: V0- Bonito F1, V1 - Galaxy F1, V2- Galactica F1, and V3 - Jade star F1. Results of the study revealed highly significant results on the number of days from sowing to first flower emergence of ampalaya. Bonito F1, Galaxy F1, and Galactica F1 varieties were comparable but they were significantly earlier on the emergence of first flower over the Jade star F1. However, no significant result was observed on the number of days from sowing to first seed emergence, weight (kg) of marketable fruits per plot and per ha; weight (kg) of non- marketable fruits per plot and per ha; and the net income per plot and per ha.
