    Assessment of the DMMMSU-Bacnotan LGU Hog breeding dispersal project
    (Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University - North La Union Campus, 2015-03) Aban, Marjorie B.
    This study was conducted to: 1) determine the baseline status of the family of the recipient before the project; 2) determine the effects of the hog breeding dispersal project to the recipients; 3) determine the problems encountered of hog breeding dispersal project. The data were drawn from the 82 respondents who were selected using purposive random sampling and were drawn from 28 selected barangays of Bacnotan La Union. Data were analyzed through frequency counts, average percentage, and weighted mean and statistical tool for analysis. The result of the study revealed that on the baseline status, aside from their piggery project majority of the respondents were engaged in farming, majority of them earned one thousand to five thousand pesos per month (P1, 000.00-P5, 000.00). The respondents are sending their children in public school; the respondents claimed that they use appliances and IT gadgets and equipment’s. More than half of the respondents do not possess vehicles. Majority of the respondents states that they had acquired water pump as farm equipment from the dispersal piggery project. The piggery project of the respondents exist within one to four years (1- 4) years and their source of capital comes from their personal savings. The effects of the hog breeding dispersal project which were perceived to have a high effect includes: increase income and food production; sustained quality of life, better house facilities and appliances; better opportunities for children; development of moral of human and public relation; development of moral and social values; works appreciation, and improved attitudes toward works. The problems identified as high serious, that have been encountered by the respondents is the high cost of commercial feeds.
