Growth and Yield of Ilocos White Garlic (Allium sativum L.) Influenced by Various Clove Sizes. Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (Major in Crop Science), Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University, North La Union Campus, College of Agriculture, Sapilang, Bacnotan, La Union. Adviser: Calimpang, Ison A. The main problem of garlic in the Philippines is the low production yield were native varieties could not satisfy the demand. Among limiting factors, are the use of unsuitable clove size as planting materials. Hence, this study conducted to evaluate the growth and yield of Ilocos White garlic as influenced by different clove sizes. The study was conducted at the experimental area of DMMMSU-NLUC, Sapilang, Bacnotan, La Union from November 13, 2021 to February 27, 2022. The treatments consisted of four clove sizes namely; small (1.0-1.49g), medium (1.50-1.99g), large (2.0-2.50g), extra-large (2.51-3.0g), and were arranged in RCBD with three replications. Results of the study revealed that clove size had different effects on the growth and yield of garlic. Planting of large (2.0-2.5 g) and extra-large (2.51-3.0 g) both obtained the highest vigor and scoring average. Planting of large clove size (2.0-2.5 g) produced the highest bulb weight (19.36 g) and (16.67 g) in fresh and dry and highest number of cloves per bulb (19.87). But no significantly differences were observed in plant height, leaf width, leaf length, number of leaves per plant, bulb diameter, clove length, clove width, weight per clove, yield per plant and yield per hectare. Hence, it can be concluded that planting of large (2.0-2.5 g) clove sizes are more promising as planting materials for the production of garlic.enGrowth and yield of Ilocos white Garlic (Allium sativum l.) influenced by various clove sizesThesis
