Lakasa ti Sirib, DMMMSU Institutional Repository.https://lakasa.dmmmsu.edu.ph/handle/123456789/1970This study was conducted in the Municipalities of Bacnotan, San Fernando City and Aringay, La Union to determine the profile of Bio-N users in La Union. Specifically, it aimed to determine the demographic profile of the respondents, farm description of Bio-N users, perception of respondents on the use of Bio-N over inorganic fertilizers and the problems encountered by the respondents in using Bio-N. There were 115 respondent of the study. Information or data were gathered through interview questioners coupled with personal interviews to the Bio-N users. Frequency counts, percentage and rank were used in the analysis of data. Results showed that most of the respondents are males, almost all of them have more than 10 years farming experience who are tenants. Less than half are under age category of 41-50 years old with 4-6 members of the family. Some are graduates or non-graduates of high school and few have an annual income of P50,000 and above taken from various sources. Most of them are members of various organizations and almost all have trainings on rice production. Almost all of the respondents have rice fields land use, majority use the combination of family and hired labor for their farm labor and most of them used their own money to finance their farming operations. As perceived by the respondents, some of them are provided with technical and skills development assistance, majority need fertilizer and many need planting materials. Despite of the support services provided, the respondents need follow-up training or seminar-workshop. A great majority claimed that the application of Bio-N will increase yield and majority of them claimed to decrease their input cost. Almost all of the respondents prefer the use of Bio-N over inorganic fertilizers because of the following reasons: yield and income will increase, plants are more resistant to pests and diseases, more robust and green plants, and improve the soil quality. Majority of the respondents encountered inadequate water availability under the physical problem category and lack of financial assistance under socio-economic problem category are the most encountered problem.en-USProfile of Bio-N users in La UnionThesis
