[Unpublished Undergraduate Thesis, Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University- North La Union Campus, Bacnotan, La Union]. Lakasa ti Sirib, DMMMSU Institutional Repository.https://lakasa.dmmmsu.edu.ph/handle/123456789/2202Mangrove ecosystems are crucial in mitigating climate change by sequestering carbon within their aboveground biomass. This study focuses on assessing the carbon stock of mangroves in Bauang Bakawan Eco-Tourism Park. Using field method, five (5) quadrats were established as study sites. Mangrove species were identified by measuring their diameter at breast height. Diversity indices were computed using Shannon-Wiener’s and Simpson’s. Frequency counts, means, and summation were used to analyze the data. Results revealed a species richness of 7, with Kalapini as the most dense and a computed dominance of 0.22. The diversity index was computed at 0.68 (Simpson’s) and 1.63 (Shannon-Wiener). The mangrove eco-park has a computed total carbon stock of 19.36 tC/ha, with a significant difference between Lumnitzera racemosa and Rhizophora species in the carbon sequestration. Kalapini was noted to produce the highest carbon stock (6.79 t/ha).enCarbon stock assessment of the aboveground biomass of mangrove species in Bauang Bakawan Eco-Tourism Park, La UnionThesis
