[Unpublished thesis, Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University - North La Union Campus, Sapilang, Bacnotan, La Union]. Lakasa ti Sirib, DMMMSU Institutional Repository.https://lakasa.dmmmsu.edu.ph/handle/123456789/2834Demand for food production puts stress on land, water, and other natural resources. Hydroponics and vertical farming allow small farmers to grow food using these limited resources. The study aimed to determine the effect of tower type hydroponic system on the growth and yield of tomato in terms of height of tomato, number, weight and ripeness of fruits. Water use efficiency, benefit-cost ratio and payback period were also computed. The research used Randomized Complete Block Design with three treatments and three replications, each treatment having different number of plants. Significant result was obtained on the height of tomato 7 DAT with treatment 2 (17.78cm) showing the fastest growth rate, while in terms of the number and weight of marketable fruits, ripeness of fruits, and water use efficiency, the three treatments were comparable. Using 5 plants per tower, the benefit-cost ratio is 3.20, while the payback period is 1,369 days.en-USTower-type hydroponic systemBush-type tomatoSolanum lycopersicumSoilless cultivationUrban agricultureCrop productionSustainable agricultureHydroponics and soilless cultivationHydroponicsTomatoes—ProductionSoilless cultivationSustainable agricultureTower type hydrophonic system for Bush type Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum l.)Thesis
