[Unpublished Undergraduate Thesis, Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University- North La Union Campus, Bacnotan, La Union].https://lakasa.dmmmsu.edu.ph/handle/123456789/1422Assessing the potential yield performance of garlic varieties is very important in order to choose which variety will give the farmers higher yield which leads to higher profit. Due to increase in price of fertilizers, we need also to choose which fertilizer recommendation will sustain or give a higher yield. Hence, this study was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of garlic varieties as affected by different fertilizer recommendation. An area of 160 sqm was laid out following the Split Plot in Randomized Complete Block Design, replicated three times. This study was conducted from October 2022 to February 2023 at Experimental Farm of DMMMSU located in Baroro, Bacnotan, La, Union. The different varieties were as follows: V1 - Mexican, V2 - Miracle, V3 - Ilocos Pink, and the different treatments used were as follows: T1 - Garlic Production Guide (4 bags Sulfate/hectare; 4 bags Complete/ha), T2 - General Recommendation (8 bags Complete; 1 bag Urea/ha), T3 - Farmers Practice (Basal 4 bags Complete and 4 bags Urea/hectare; 1 bag Sulfate). Varietal performance were found to be comparable except on survival percentage where in Ilocos Pink recorded the highest survival rate. The study revealed that fertilizer recommendation were found to be comparably effective in terms of plant height, number of leaves, leaf length and width, days to maturity weight of fresh and dry bulbs, bulb diameter and SPAD index.enPerformance of garlic (Allium sativum L.) varieties as affected by different fertilizer recommendationThesis
