Agronomic, qualitative phytochemical characterization and evaluation of 'sibujing' (Allium chinense G.DON) accessions under wet season condition in La Union Province. [Unpublished Undergraduate Thesis, Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University- North La Union Campus, Bacnotan, La Union].https://lakasa.dmmmsu.edu.ph/handle/123456789/1333‘Sibujing’ is classified as an under-utilized crop in the Philippines. It is commonly used as a condiment and a traditional medicine in the Mindanao area. However, this crop is not grown in northern Philippines despite its potential contribution for food and medicine purposes. Hence, this study aimed to assess and evaluate the sibujing accessions under wet season condition in La Union province. The study was conducted at DMMMSU-NLUC, Sapilang, Bacnotan, La Union from June 12, 2023 to September 21, 2023. The experiment was laid out in Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with three replications. There are five accessions of ‘sibujing’ acquired from the Crop Breeding and Genetic Resources Laboratory that were evaluated using agronomic and phytochemicals analysis. Based on the findings, it revealed that accession 2020-073 (T3) has the widest leaves (2.68 mm), most number of leaves (15.50), maximum plant height (36.86 cm), longest leaf length (35.36 cm), most number of roots (15.73), highest plant vigor rating (7.67), highest plant yield (161.67), and highest yield per ha (0.0263 g) but comparable to all accession in terms of number of bulb per hill, bulb diameter, root length, and survival rate. Meanwhile, the phytochemical analysis revealed that all accession has a tannins and saponins with no alkaloids and flavonoids being collected. The preliminary evaluation of ‘sibujing’ in La Union province showed potential accessions that could thrive and yield under new environment conditions.enAgronomic, qualitative phytochemical characterization and evaluation of 'sibujing' (Allium chinense G.DON) accessions under wet season condition in La Union ProvinceThesis
